PostSubject: offering by fire in Leviticus 23:25 during feast of trumpets   Sun Oct 02, 2016 10:04 pm

Some translations have food offering, including certain "versions" of NIV.
It is not burnt offering because burnt offering in Hebrew is 'olah H5930.

In Leviticus 23:25, the word is 'ishshah H801. Although it can mean burnt offering, through out the KJV bible it's translated "offering by fire".
There is an English word for such - it's called holocaust, yes the same word used to describe the attempted genocide of the Jews in the second world war. In fact, Douay Reheims bible used this word for offering by fire in Leviticus 23:25.

The Father, in numerous occasions said, He would not totally destroy the house of Jacob. Many Jews survived the holocaust.

Back to Leviticus 23:25, it's likely fellowship offering in which the Israelites were to partake the food cf Leviticus 3:1-17 and Leviticus 7:11-21.

By the way, the feast was to be a day of rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. The only time trumpet was mentioned prior was in Exodus 19 and 20, during the time the Father gave the ten commandments. Ten days after this feast is day of atonement. Is it a coincidence?

Following to what I proposed this afternoon regarding feast of trumpets that God's servants are to be watchmen, that they are to blow the trumpets to warn God's people whenever they see an invasion, what is the significance of feast of trumpets, and for that matter, day of atonement?

The things I thought about prior to what I said today:
Should believers be alert only on special feast days but not on ordinary days?
Do they need to be reminded of His commandments on every feast of trumpets, then spend the next ten days to remember his transgressions and deny himself on the day of atonement?
Shouldn't the believers be aware of sins all the time and repent as soon as he realizes that he has sinned? That is to say, atonement is made, right there and then, through repentance and through the blood of Christ rather than relying on a special day.

PostSubject: feast of trumpets and day of atonement viewed from Isaiah 58   Fri Oct 07, 2016 9:10 pm

Isaiah 58:1 Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins.
........

Isaiah 58:5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for people to humble themselves? Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed and for lying in sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord?
