PostSubject: Day of atonement realized   Sat Oct 15, 2016 4:35 pm

Day of atonement, for His true followers, is history, is a day to commemorate. However, it does not mean His return to judge the world will not be on the day of atonement.

Read Leviticus 16. Read again.

The sacrificed lamb was the type for the Messiah who died on the cross and shed His blood for the sins of the world.
The high priest who made atonement for the Most Holy Place was the type for the Resurrected Messiah who went to the heavenly Most Holy Place.
Read Hebrews 9 especially 9:24.

Leviticus 16:30 reads: ...because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you.
Leviticus 23:28 reads: Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God.
Read again.
The Israelites, the type for His true followers, were to do no work on the Day of Atonement.
No work was the type for salvation not by work.
Atonement is made for you before the Lord your God: does it even need to be explained? Atonement is made for His true followers. The true followers do nothing on their own.

Fire at will your arguments.<------it was offensive.

Hebrews 9:9-10
This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshipper. They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings - external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

What does Hebrews 9:10 refer to? Did Leviticus 16 and 23 mention food and drink?

Hebrews 9:11-15
But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, so obtaining eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Is the blood of Christ not enough to cleanse our consciences and our sins?

Hebrews 7:18-19 The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless, for the law made nothing perfect.

There are two ways to come to the presence of Yahweh:
a. Though the old covenant.
b. Though the new covenant.

Again, Yeshua the Messiah says: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

I do not think the day of atonement has been fulfilled.

- The Messiah's death and resurrection occurred during the spring feasts, not the fall feasts.
- There may be a prophetic significance to the scapegoat sent into the wilderness (Lev 16:10, 21) that has not been fulfilled.
- This I have not studied but I will leave here: Revelation depicts the holy sanctuary, including the golden lampstand (Rev 1-3) and the altar of incense (Rev 8:3-5). The most holy place which the high priest enters once a year on the day of atonement contains the ark of the covenant -- and this appears after the seventh trumpet (Rev 11:19).

The question to ask is, have the sins of His followers been atoned for? I would not take no for an answer.
That's what the day, to the believers, is about.

In my first post on this topic, I have already said "it does not mean His return to judge the world will not be on the day of atonement." I thought it covered the loose ends e.g. the scapegoat whom, by the way, I believe is a type for Satan.

Hebrews 9:24 indicated that Yeshua has already entered the true heavenly sanctuary.
Revelation 11:19, I believe, marks the beginning of judgment.
