Did the Lord appear to / speak with David directly?

I always thought the Lord appeared to David from time to time until a few weeks ago.
Further to what we brought up on Jun 5....
No doubt 2 Sam 5:17-25 and 1 Chron 14:8-16 said the Lord answered David. However, from 1 Sam 23:1-12 we see that David inquired of the Lord through Ephod, which the breastplate was rested upon which contained Urim and Thummim. The question remains: Did the Lord speak directly with David in the former incidence or did He answered through Urim and Thummim?

2 Chron 3:1 said that the Lord had appeared to David.
When?
1 Chron 21:18-30.
How?
A fire came down from heaven onto the altar of burnt offering.

Before that he saw the angel of the Lord standing between heaven and earth with a drawn sword.

That's enough to get that faith of him going. What do we have to get us going?

i had a dream.. there was some kind of hurricane.. there were about 50 people inside a wooden house and i was there. people were dying, and i was sitting in a corner thinking "spare me, spare me..", and then everyone died.. and i woke up.
