June 25, 2000 - Minor Earthquake Hits Toronto

TORONTO (AP) - Dishes rattled and homes shook Wednesday morning as residents in Toronto and the surrounding area were shaken awake by a minor earthquake.
The Geological Survey of Canada confirmed that the rattling was a magnitude 3.0 earthquake that hit at 6:22 a.m. The quake was centred six miles northwest of Oshawa.

Janet Drysdale, of the Geological Survey of Canada, said a magnitude three earthquake can be felt by people, but other than shaking dishes, there's rarely any serious damage.

June 25, 2009 - Tornadoes ripped through the communities of Avon and Leamington, Ontario

On June 25th, 2009, a cold front moved across Ontario, triggering fierce thunderstorms. Hail, powerful winds and intense rainfall were reported.

Environment Canada confirmed two tornadoes: an F1 in Leamington, and an F2 in Avon. It was one of the strongest tornadoes to hit the province in years.

August 20, 2009 - An F2 tornado touches down in North Toronto (the city of Vaughan)

Environment Canada has placed Toronto under a tornado warning, as citizens of York Region report sightings of funnel clouds on Thursday evening.

York Region is also under a warning. The area included in the warning includes Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham and Newmarket

There have been several reports of tornadoes from residents of the area, some describing debris floating in the air and others reporting significant damage to vehicles and buildings.

Severe tornado damage has been reported in a town south of Owen Sound. Residents of the town of Durham, located in Grey County, reported severe tornado damage on Thursday afternoon.

Environment Canada says it has received several reports of the funnel cloud, including an unconfirmed report it may have caused a fatality. The town's Home Hardware store appears to have been hit and is now missing most of its roof.

"We have also had someone in the Blue Mountain area reporting they've seen a tornado," says Environment Canada's Geoff Coulson. "Most of the activity to this point looks like it's going to stay west and north of (Toronto)."

Deputy Mayor Dan Sullivan, deputy mayor of Durham, reports significant property damage and multiple injuries, saying several trailers were blown over in the town's conservation area. There are also some reports that houses have been completely levelled.

Emergency services, police and town officials are currently organizing a meeting to co-ordinate their response to the sudden storm.

Brenda Ailles was in her trailer in the conservation area that was hit when she heard several loud snapping sounds. She came outside to find downed trees surrounding her trailer.

There is a tornado warning also in effect for the area including Blue Mountain, Owen Sound, Midland, North Huron County, Wingham and Kincardine.

June 23, 2010 (One year later) - An OTTAWA earthquake With a Preliminary Magnitude of 5.5, Then Downgraded to a 5.0 Has Hit the East Coast of Canada

According to the CBC, the 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit Ontario with shaking and tremors felt in Montreal and even Boston and Cleveland. (The Huffington Post has a map of where the earthquake was felt).

June 23, 2010 - At least TWO tornadoes confirmed touched down in Midland, Ontario

At least TWO tornadoes touched down in Ontario Wednesday night, and crews are still looking at the possibility that there was a third in the southwestern part of the province.

Environment Canada has confirmed that the storm that swept through Midland at about 6:30p.m. was rated an F2 on the Fujita scale. That means winds were gusting between 180 and 240km/h. The storm travelled for about 25km, causing destruction in its path.

The most significant damage was reported at Smith's Camp, which is a trailer park at the south end of the town. Numerous mobile homes were completely destroyed.

“I started crying. I was shaking because this park is like a family park, we know the people that were hurt and it's just devastating,” says Midland resident Kim Raynard. She and her husband had just bought their 40 foot trailer three weeks ago.

Out of about 300 trailer units, 70 to 80 were completely destroyed.

a) Do you believe that these have been the signs that GOD warns us before the JUDGMENT DAY? Or
b) Is 2012 the end of the world? Would it get worse and worse in the coming years? Or
c) Just coincidences? Mother Nature?
