Questions and quotes from pastor regarding Passover Empty
PostSubject: Questions and quotes from pastor regarding Passover   Questions and quotes from pastor regarding Passover EmptySat Apr 15, 2017 12:32 pm

Carmen :Regarding to Passover and my customer (pastor)who sent me Galatians 2 :20-21.  Ask me Explain verse 2:19

Mavis: 整個chapter讀係講緊割禮,同埋守節期唔等如係稱義,過復活節就可以?過biblical的節日就唔可以?

Ah bel: Galatians 2:21 One should read what law is about. In the context is about wrongdoings and punishments. If someone uses this verse to argue against observing Passover, he should read 1Corinthians 5:7-8 in which shown Paul was not against the observance.

Mavis: Can he/she share with you where good Friday and Easter are in the bible?

Mavis:
(出埃及記 12:14) 「你們要記念這日,守為耶和華的節,作為你們世世代代永遠的定例。
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

Paul also said - (羅馬書 7:7) 這樣,我們可說甚麼呢?律法是罪嗎?斷乎不是!只是非因律法,我就不知何為罪。非律法說「不可起貪心」,我就不知何為貪心。
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Matthew 5:17-20
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Another quotes from pastor:

Yes circumcision was partly the issue but we know there were other matters Romans 14:5 etc. And paul says Romans 3:20 ... by the works of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight: for thru the law comes the knowledge of sin ( not salvation from sin).

Gal 3: 10-13
10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”[e]11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”  So yes the law is crucial to reveal sin. 100% agree but powerless to save us.

If it could we would not need Jesus.  I would suggest the law is ceremonial and moral.  Killing lambs for atonement is ceremonial.  You shall not steal is moral.  Consequently ceremony is done away with ..

Hebrews 10:1 the law is only a shadow of the good things to come ... not the realities.     Jesus is the reality and fulfillment of all ceremonial law.  If not .... why would u not keep Passover and sacrifice a lamb Carmen?  Why not hold to feasts and have burnt offerings?

Re circumcision.... all males must be except that paul say.... no. Don't tell converts they must be... Galatians 2:3.  The argument for law keeping is loaded with inconsistencies unless u divide ceremonial from moral.   Yes I agree no command to celebrate Good Friday nor Easter.  But the Lords Table was weekly in the early church and separation of pagan Easter from resurrection remembrance is a way to honour God.  Like birthdays and church anniversary Sundays and Christian funerals. No command but they offer us meaningful moments to consider our lives.

So Leviticus 23 doesn't end with just feast of unleavened bread. How is day of atonement celebrated by ur group. And who are the priests in ur group. My bible tells me we all are who are in Christ 1peter 2:9 but if u keep Leviticus u must have high priest and that means .....   the point is ur movement picks and chooses what it will subscribe to. Jews do the same today. No sacrifice of a lamb but still some laws kept.   How does Leviticus 21 :18 following work for u?  A movement that only accepts the well healed and able body ?  I know ..... u don't keep that part.     That is my point and Paul's.  The law is impossible to keep ... Jesus  is our saviour and we need one. In Him we then say Good bye ceremony and by grace ask for His power to keep moral law

By the way. Ur leaders and all who live by the law live guilt and heavy laden lives. See Matt 23:4  and Luke 11:46.

Conviction is good and needful .... self torture of legalism for right standing b4 God is a prison. Grace is the end of the ceremonial law.  It declares u can't keep it.... and never will.  Israel didn't. And we won't either. And u can't even keep the moral law without Christ!

Mavis: It seems your friend is assuming that we believe we can be saved by observing the law, but no that's not what we believe. We do not believe anyone can be saved by works, we believe we are saved by grace through faith (Roman 1:5 obedience comes from faith) and it's the gift of YHWH (God). He's right about Yeshua (Jesus)'s sacrifice once for all, we no longer need to sacrifice animals because He died for us as the everlasting sacrifice. But does it mean we no longer have to observe God's appointed time? If so, then why did Paul still keep the feasts after Yeshua died? (Acts 20:6, 1 Cor 16:8 )

(Acts 20:6 - feast of unleavened bread, 1 Cor 16:8 - pentecost) Philippi and Ephesus were both made up of Gentiles and Paul was there during the feasts.

Questions and quotes from pastor regarding Passover Empty
PostSubject: Re: Questions and quotes from pastor regarding Passover   Questions and quotes from pastor regarding Passover EmptySat Apr 15, 2017 1:28 pm

Does he even understand and is he able to distinguish between ceremonial and moral laws? Did God ever make a distinction between ceremonial and moral? The distinction is a man made doctrine.

God's word is eternal cf Psalm 119:89.

His righteous laws are eternal cf Psalm 119:160.

Yeshua said: man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God cf Matthew 4:4.

Anyone says otherwise is not of God.

Therefore, there is no reason why His feasts including Passover are no longer observed.

We no longer sacrifice a lamb because
a. Yeshua is the lamb and His sacrifice is perpetual cf Hebrews chapter 8 to 10. Does the bible teach believers not to observe Passover? On the contrary, Paul taught how to observe in 1 Corinthians 5:6-8.
b. the temple is destroyed so that no one could ever sacrifice a lamb under the law even if they didn't understand the significance of the sacrifice of the Messiah and wanted to cf Deuteronomy 12.

Galatians 3:10-13 was about sacrifice/compensation one has to make under the law. Does he even understand the meaning of the phrase "under the law"? One is under the law when he breaks it i.e. he is guilty; one is righteous when he lives according to the law i.e. he is free.
By the sacrifice of the Messiah, believers are all freed from the consequence of breaking the law i.e. punishment.
It is as simple as that.
