1. Exodus 34:28 and Deuteronomy 9:9 & 18

b. He did not choose to fast.
c. Both times were not for his own sins.
2. 2 Samuel 12:16-23
a. David fasted, slept on the floor, and quite possibly not taking a shower nor changing his clothes for seven days.
b. He did not stop fasting until the prophecy of the death of his child was realized.
3. 1 Kings 19:8
a. Elijah asked God to take his life because was frustrated with God during that time.
b. He was strengthened by the food from the angel and was able to travel forty days and forty nights. Take note: Travelling from Beersheba to Mount Horeb without the need for drinking and eating.
4. Esther 4:16
a. It was a life and death situation for the whole Israel nation.
b. The whole Israelite people fasted together, a public event.
5. Daniel 9
a. Fasting was together with prayer, petition and in sackcloth and ashes.
b. The petition was for the good of the whole Israel nation.
c. The prayer was an answer to God's promise.
6. Jonah 3:5-7
a. The king covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.
b. It was a nation wide event which included animals to fast and to cover with sackcloth.
7. Acts 13:2
a. It was for the ministry of God and done as a group.
b. It was answered by the Holy Spirit to all in presence.
